IP MAN 2

I seldom like Chinese movies, and neither do I watch Chinese movies in cinema theaters before, therefore I was utmost RELUCTANT when dearie suggested to watch Ip Man 2 last saturday night and I really wanted to watch Iron Man II after all the "woots! nice movie" comments from my friends. Furthermore besides, I had never watched Ip Man 1, so I was kind of pondering whether I would fall asleep when we hit the theaters...

NEVERTHELESS

I EAT BACK MY WORDS!!!

A sequel to Ip Man, Donnie Yen starred as "Ip Man", a real-life martial art master of "Yong Chun" martial arts; (whom Bruce Lee was his disciple) while Samuel Hong starred as another Kung-Fu master in the movie. The story continued from part 1 whereby Ip and his family escaped from China to Hong Kong during  the days where China was under the Japanese Occupation. Based on a real story, Ip Man 2 illustrates the tough schemed life Ip had to go through, especially in a foreign land whereby he had to survive his way through the obstacles - one such which was to open a martial art school with other "masters" approval...

Obvious with his true martial art skills, he managed to open his martial arts school and successfully enrolled several youngsters as his disciples. As Ip refused to pay "protection fees" for the leading martial arts school hosted by Samuel Hong (also organiser of the Martial Arts Association), Ip often faced problems and eventually had to close-down his school since his disciples got into a fight with other hooligans (also disciples of Samuel Hong's).

The story evolved from the entangling feuds of Ip's lifestyle, his hardship, success and finally back to the history of Hong Kong under British Occupation. Reflected on the racism of the British towards the Chinese in the olden days, Ip encountered a hard decision - to represent the Chinese and fight a "Chinese Kung Fu & Western Boxing" match when Samuel was sympathetically killed in the previous match with the English boxer after Chinese Kung Fu was mocked by the Brits...

A light-hearted propaganda - I personally felt this way since the movie projected the English as the bad guys and Ip was the hero, this movie is a "MUST SEE" since it is able to drive strong emotions to all who viewed the show! After all these years of watching movies in the cinemas, IP MAN 2 was the only show which I saw even Malay races watching, huge applause, loud cheers, whistles and cat-calls loomed the cinemas when Ip fought and beaten the Brit boxer.

Ip Man 2 really drives passion to all whom watched it and I was truely amazed by it since I had always respected "Red Cliff 1 and 2" as the best-made Chinese movie ever. Despite not knowing nor watched Ip 1, all can enjoy the awesome impacts and effects of Chinese Kung Fu!!

IP ROCKS!
